Google Assistant is a smart assistant services that is only going to get more and more popular. Sadly, the Google Assistant on Android smartphones is available only on those devices running Android 6.0 and above.

But thanks to a recent method publicized by XDA Member Nikhilkumar038, it’s possible to get Google Assistant up and running unofficially on any Android Lollipop and above device – including tablets. Expanding on this work, XDA Senior Member Jovic77 created the Google Assistant Launcher (GAL) which helps you launch the hidden activity needed to start setting up Google Assistant on your Android 5.0+ devices. The latest update to the application also allows you to launch Google Assistant by long-pressing on the home button.
